HALLOWEEN DATE NIGHT

After living in Toronto for almost two years, I can say that in Italy we have no idea of what the real Halloween is. Here it’s not considered it as a one-day festivity but the full month of October is Halloween themed. That’s why I thought about organizing a Halloween date at home, just a way for us to go in the spirit ready for the real deal.

Nothing says fall season more than pumpkin-based food! So for our date night, I decided to make pumpkin-cheese balls. They are easy to make, really tasty, and the best compromise between my love of sweets and my husband love for cheese! To make them “healthier” I added cherry tomatoes and baby spinach on the side. It was not supposed to be a finger food dinner but we ended up talking and eating them with our hands. Somehow that small detail of eating without rules made our night even more romantic.

2. LIST OF NOT SCARY HALLOWEEN MOVIES

I don’t like scary movies. Not that I have ever watched one, but even when I hear people talking about them I will not sleep the night. So here is my go-to list of not scary Halloween movies:

  • Ghostbusters
  • Edward Scissorhands
  • The nightmare before Christmas
  • It’s the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown
  • Casper
  • Coraline
  • Harry Potter
  • Practical magic
  • Hotel Transylvania
  • Monster Inc
  • Corpse Bride
3. CREATING THE RIGHT ATMOSPHERE

Candles are the Must-Have for date nights at home. They create that warm, romantic atmosphere typical of dates. Considering that is a Halloween themed date, to add the spooky feeling, I lighted up a lot of candles – the pack of 100 that IKEA sells is a perfect choice! I love that they are reasonably priced and last me for years. Just turn off the light, enjoy the food and your movie and in this new ambiance!

4. WEAR COMFY BUT NOT MESSY

I am not a dress and high heels type of a girl. That’s why I love date nights at home! Wearing a comfy sweater or a onesie is the best after a long day of work. Still, there is a big difference between being comfy and messy. Remember, it’s a date! You have to feel cute to look cute! Style your hair, put some makeup on, or wear your favorite perfume! At the same time don’t overdo it; always remember that you are cute just the way you are! The date night can begin!
