Ingredients (8 portions)

For the base:

  • Unsalted butter 100g
  • Sugar 150g
  • Cocoa powder 10g
  • White flour 2 cups
  • Large eggs 2

For the custard:

  • 2% Milk 400ml
  • Yolk 3
  • Sugar 100g
  • Corn starch 21g

Top decoration:

  • Strawberries as needed
  • Blueberries as needed
  • Kiwi as needed

[1 portion = 420 cal]

For the base, remember that the butter has to be cold! If it’s not enough cold your ball will not form. You will end up using more eggs and your base will become too hard!

Don’t try to make the different parts together, your kitchen will become messy and you will get overwhelmed! Just bake this tart when you have more time than usual and do the different parts one AFTER the other. I call this dessert a “weekend dessert” or, if you prefer, a “day-off”.

blueberries, strawberries and kiwi tart

Baking something special for the special one!

For Valentine’s day usually, you go “classic” with chocolate or cookies. Here another option, a heart shape tart as a dessert! A special dessert for your loved one! Take your time to bake it and enjoy the process!

For the base:

  1. Mix sugar, flour, and cocoa powder. Add the butter to the mixture and work it all with your hands.
  2. Add the 2 eggs and keep mixing until you have a uniform ball.
  3. Cover it with a plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes or more.
  4. Preheat the oven at 320F.
  5. Roll out your dough in the wanted shape.
  6. Cover with a little bit of oil and flour the surface of your Non-stick pan ( I used a heart-shaped one). Transfer your dough on the pan and, with a fork, dock the bottom surface, forming small holes.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes, checking time to time,

For the custard:

  1. Warm up 500 ml of milk
  2. While waiting for the milk, in a medium-size bowl, mix the yolks with the sugar.
  3. Add the corn starch to your mixture.
  4. Pour a little bit of the milk in your bowl until your mixture becomes more liquid.
  5. Add the mixture to the rest of your milk. Stir well until it becomes a dense cream.
  6. Layer the cream on the top of your base.
  7. Let it cool down and put it in the fridge.

Cut the fruits in the wanted dimension and place them on the cold custard. ENJOY!
